Red goes from one eye to two

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Since we are still looking for a car, we have to still keep driving what we have, the red Taurus. with streaks of white here and there.  I decided it was time to replace the headlight.  Certifit was the recommeded place to get a headlight assembly, so I picked one up while Grandpa was at the Senior Center.

The bad eye:

Then it came out, Three bolts, one minute, ta da!

Installed in two minutes, slick!

The hood kept coming down, so I had just the right prop.

I even drove up behind a police car tonight, with no fear!  Priceless!

A Texan wannabe porch

100_34741This porch is on a house on Salem Street, near Dad’s home.  After visiting Houston we saw real southern porches and this looks, well, silly.

We see a snake on the road, but it’s not a rattler!

Monday, September 7th, 2009

We were coming back from Castle Rock and came upon a snake, coiled up in the middle of the lane.  J.D. decided to get a picture of it, so we turned around and stopped across from it.  While J.D. was taking this picture a man driving a tractor stopped and backed up.  He asked what kind of snake it was, and then came closer and declared “it’s a bull snake, don’t taste any good, like rattlesnake.”  When we left, it was still in good health, but it’s lifespan was at risk.

New Faucet

Monday, September 7th, 2009

We decided to be bold for Labor Day and start laboring. We have wanted to replace the bathroom faucet, here is the account:

It came out fairly easily:

then we had to figure out how to get the bottom part out.

I added shutoff valves, now we’ll never need them.

The new faucet, proud and shiny.

Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without an inspection from the chief engineer!
