One of my favorite books
The other day in church a sister giving a talk referred to Steven Covey’s 7 Habits for Highly Effective Families. I went right home and pulled it off the shelf and thumbed through it once again. I love his ideas on relationships and that we can each make a difference in the atmosphere of our homes when using the principles he discusses. Although his educational background includes organizational behavior, I see that much of what he teaches is based on Christlike principles, such as treating others as we would like to be treated, forgiveness, and recognizing the worth of the soul.
I am grateful to my own parents who were encouraging and sincerely praised us often and were very fair in their discipline, never seeking to demean or criticize but to teach in such a way that we were able to listen and learn. This was the best gift for it allowed me to learn from their parenting methods that they wanted to be Christlike and as a result, I easily gained a testimony of Jesus Christ very early in my life.
